A Great Fit for Student Partner Pre-Apprenticeship Program members

Students who participate in the Student Partner Pre-Apprenticeship Program can enjoy a successful career as inside wiremen by becoming IBEW apprentices at the Electrical Trades Center.

The current and future work outlook in the IBEW Local 683 jurisdiction is robust, as there is plenty of work in the foreseeable future due to a major construction boom.

This has created an environment where electricians are and will be in great demand.

Thanks to the Student Partner Pre-Apprenticeship Program, you have put yourself on the pathway to an apprenticeship and can avoid costly student loans to attend college.

Earn While You Learn

The ETC offers a registered apprenticeship program to teach men and women how to become IBEW journeymen electricians.

The earn while you learn model provides a number of excellent benefits such as:

  • Good hourly wages
  • Great health insurance
  • Excellent retirement benefits
  • Scheduled raises as you improve your industry skillset and knowledge
  • Paid, on-the-job training with journeyman inside wiremen
  • Supplemental classroom instruction
  • Industry-leading electrical training
  • OSHA safety training

The IBEW difference

Few other entities can meet or surpass the total compensation package earned by members of IBEW Local 683. While some non-union contractors may pay a higher wage, they provide costly or terrible health insurance and often do not provide a retirement plan. Discover the IBEW differnce:

Health Insurance

Employers pay the full cost of health insurance, not IBEW apprentices and members. There is no healthcare deduction from your hourly wages. Furthermore, your spouse and all eligible dependents are covered as well.

Retirement Plan

It is never too early to think about retirement and apprentices who train at the ETC will take part in a Local and International Pension Fund, along with an annuity.

The Local 683 pension plan and International IBEW pension plan is paid for by the employer, which is separate from Social Security and other pension benefits. The annuity plan is also paid for by the employer, and depending on the amount contributed, provides a great supplemental income for retirees.

Payscale

Through collective bargaining, IBEW apprentices earn good hourly wages.
